- Origin of the Seeds -
In India, chia seeds were mainly cultivated in Mandsaur and Neemuch, until it was introduced to the cities of Uttar Pradesh(Amseruva and Siddhaur).
The chia seed crops usually take around 115 days to mature. The entire crop is uprooted and dried for five days before harvest. After drying, threshing is carried out. On average, one acre of land can produce five to seven quintals of fruit. Harishchandra Singh said that the soil should be pulverized for the rich production of chia seeds. It is important to have sufficient moisture in the field before sowing. This crop is sown in the Rabi season, which runs from October through November. It can only be grown in a mildly cool climate.
